Current CommBank scams
- CommBank Car Giveaway Scam: Fake Social Media Competition AdsSponsored social media ads pretending to be CommBank promise customers a chance to win a car, then send them to a fake NetBank page to steal their log on details.
- CommBank Scam: Fake NetBank Log On Pages Copying the New DesignScam emails and texts are linking to fake NetBank log on pages made to look like CommBank's refreshed NetBank design, to steal your banking details.
- CommBank Rewards Points Text Scam: 'Your Points Are About to Expire'Fake text messages claim your CommBank rewards points are about to expire and link to a fake website that asks for your banking and card details.
How to tell if it’s really CommBank
Scammers copy CommBank’s logo, wording and even its phone numbers. CommBank says it will never:
- ask for your NetBank client number, password or NetCode
- ask for your card PIN, expiry date or security code
- send a link in an email or text that takes you to a NetBank log on page
- ask you to move money to a “safe” account, withdraw cash or buy gift cards
- ask you to share your screen or install remote access software
If a message or call worries you, don’t use the contact details it gives you. Open the CommBank app, or type commbank.com.au into your browser yourself.
If you’ve already clicked or paid
Call CommBank straight away on 13 2221 so it can protect your accounts, and change your NetBank password from the app or by typing the website address in yourself.
