Current Telstra scams
- Telstra Robocall Scam: 'Your Number Has Been Used Unusually'A recorded call claiming to be Telstra says your number has been used unusually and will be cancelled within hours unless you press 9 or 1.
- Telstra Email Scam: 'Your Bill Payment Failed' and 'SMS OTP CODE' MessagesFake Telstra emails say your last bill couldn't be processed or your payment was declined, and ask you to enter a new credit card on a scam website.
How to tell if it’s really Telstra
Telstra says it will never:
- call you out of the blue to ask for a one-time code, or ask for or set your password
- require you to click a link in an email to accept changes to its terms or privacy policy
- send bills as HTML or ZIP attachments, or official emails with emoji in the subject line
- accept gift cards as payment for a bill
- offer huge discounts (40 to 100 percent) in unsolicited calls

If you’ve already clicked or paid
Change your My Telstra password and contact Telstra through the app. If you gave card details, call your bank.
